Volunteer Policy

GoSafer.Online CIC cannot operate without volunteers. We the Directors put in many hours of volunteer work. We demand to be treated with respect, and acknowledge that anyone volunteering for GoSafer.Online CIC must also be treated with respect.

Giving time in the cause of E-safety for the community is an idealistic thing to do. We want our volunteers to enjoy the work, and if possible to derive benefit from it.

You are entitled to be treated fairly, as described in our other policies. Any decisions we make should also be consistent.

As a volunteer you are entitled to expect GoSafer.Online CIC to:

  1. Take out appropriate insurance for you
  2. Take care to maintain safe working for you
  3. Provide training to allow you to work safely and effectively
  4. Listen to any constructive suggestions or criticism you may have

We appreciate the talents and skills of our volunteers, and where possible we hope to assist them in enhancing those skills or developing new ones that will be useful in later life, whether or not they are still working with us. By giving honest, kind feedback in areas where we have expertise of our own, we hope to assist their development.

There will be misunderstandings, differences of opinion, and minor irritations anywhere that humans are together. If a volunteer has concerns about anything more serious, they should speak to a Director. We need to hear about problems as early as possible so that we can head them off and avoid more serious trouble.

We have a strategy for the way GoSafer.Online presents itself as a company, and we have to comply with legal requirements and with our own policies, so as a volunteer you'll need to accept direction in your work. We'd also like you to use your own judgment where appropriate.

Your commitment to us

We would encourage you to avoid promising more than you can deliver. If you're doubtful that you'll be able make an appointed time, or stay for as long as you're being asked to, it's far better to tell us than make a commitment you may have to break/
